CVDCC Competition Overview

To help to improve the photographic skills of our members, we provide a number of different competitions, Peer Reviews, informal contests, and other ways that members can display and improve their skills:

1. We host 5 Photographic Society of America (PSA) sanctioned competitions per year that adhere to PSA guidelines. These 5 are judged by well-qualified, often internationally acclaimed judges;

2. We host 5-6 informal "WOW" contests that are judged using rules prescribed by our club.

3. We also host 5 Peer Reviews, in months with formal PSA competitions, in preparation for competition. In Peer Review, members submit images for critique and improvement ideas offered by more experienced members.

How to Enter Competitions in VP

Before you start, ensure sure your images are no larger than 1080 pixels high or 1920 pixels wide. Use the Competition Checklist, above, very helpful in making sure your images are ready uploading. 

Entering Your Images:

Login to the club Home page, click the Competitions Tab at top and then click on “Submit Images to a Competition”:

• The 4 competition categories will be shown. Click on the category you want to enter and you'll see the category definition. Read through this to make sure your image fits with the description, then scroll to the bottom of the page. 

• Click the “Upload Images to a Competition” button and a new page will open. Scroll to the bottom of that page and click on “Select”. This opens to your computer file system, where you can navigate to the images you want to enter, clicking on each and then “Open”.

• You'll see a green dot on the webpage next to the title of your image, meaning the image is uploaded. A red X is there also if you decide to cancel it. Click on “Save Images and Proceed to Edit”, where you can change anything you might want. That's it, your image is uploaded! Proceed through the same steps for each image you want to enter.

We record all competitions and upload them to YouTube, so you can revisit the judge’s comments. Look for the link on NewsETC! in the day or two following, or click Competitions>Competition Results 2020-26 from the Home page and locate the video there.
