- October 3, S4C competition submissions close on Saturday, Oct 3. Every CVDCC member is eligible to enter any of 7 categories, at no cost: there are 2 Nature, 2 Pictorial, 2 Photojournalism and 1 new one, "Photo Travel - World in Focus". Check the schedule here
- October 11, Sunday, 8am meetup: Anza Motocross photo outing with Greg Lilly – a good place to get your action photography back in gear - Contact Greg at lillyf371@gmail.com

- October 17, Saturday, 9am: ShutterBug Saturday! Always a good time, meet at Panera on N. Monterey Ave, Palm Desert for some coffee and good conversation.
- October 20, Tuesday, 7pm via Zoom: Photochat with Pat Garrett, who will share a travelogue of his time in the beautiful Canadian Province of Alberta this summer.

Alberta Photographic Excursion - Pat Garrett gives a PowerPoint talk about his recent trip through Alberta, guided by 4 Canadian friends in August. Lots of beautiful photos, and plenty of traveler's information as well, view it here.
The November Special Entry Contest theme: TREES!
Trees are everywhere – you just need to find that special shot. Think trees in a forest or a single tree in a landscape, perhaps a Joshua tree. You can submit photos of a reflection of a tree, trees in evening silhouette, a scraggy tree, trees in the rain, a tree in the wind, even a branch casting a shadow. Consider ICM or zoom burst or multiple exposure.
Rule #1: Take your photos between November 1 and November 30, 2026.
Rule #2: Remember, you must WOW the judges! That's it!
Up to three images per member will be accepted.
Website open for submission Nov. 1, 2026 12:00 am PST to Nov. 30, 2026 11:30 pm PST.
Images will be shown at the December 17 Competition night.

Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival - Photography Competition
The Fair is accepting photography in B&W, Color and Cell Phone Photography until January 18, 2027, awarding cash prizes and ribbons. Why not give it a try? To read more click here
Photochat Video: Calico Ghost Town
Bob Rufer and Julianne Koza presented a photochat on Sept. 8th, a photographer's exploration of Calico, the former silver mining town located NE of Barstow. This is a nice production, complete with history and lots of good photography throughout, you can view it here
